Machine Tending Automation for Thread Grinding
The customer was manually loading and unloading components for a thread grinding machine. The process required an experienced and skilled operator, as the component had to be placed in the correct orientation and accurately aligned with the machine chuck position and inclination.
To overcome these challenges, we designed and implemented a robotic machine tending system using a palletizing robot. The system is configured with two input pallets and one output pallet, enabling continuous component handling with minimal operator intervention.
Once the operator enters the pallet information and required thread inclination data, the robot automatically identifies and picks the component from the input pallet, correctly orients it, and loads it into the thread grinding machine with the required alignment.
After machining is completed, the robot unloads the finished component and places it systematically into the designated output pallet.
